But you can not say they are the same. Jimmy Carter was an idealist and really tried to do the right thing because he believed what he was doing. Obama is more about trying to prove to people he is good.<br /> What I did not like was on inauguration day 2009 Obama was bad mounting Bush a little. The guy won the election he could have given it a rest. But he just said we have a lot of clean up to do from the last president.<br /> That is someone who wants to seem good. That is, there is not balance of trade. Asian countries have too low cost of labor and will continue to have. Therefore, US industry can not compete. Eventually we will all be pressing each others pants.</p> <p>When did this all change? 1960s was the cross over point. The departure from the good old USA to the new USA. The 1990s is when this problem of the trade deficit accelerated. </p> <p>Now the economy is going for long term slow growth and perhaps a relative decline in the standard of living.</p> <p>Any solutions? Well a weaker US dollar should in theory correct this all.
